Character Name: Ashley “Reiko” Yavie
Sex: Female
Age: 14
Species: Mutant
Appearance:
Ashley has dark reddish black hair that hangs to mid back, green eyes, and an athletic build. It depends on how she dresses if she looks more Asian or European. She stands just barely 4"6’ and tends to lean more towards the Asian inspired clothing, which makes her look more like her mother’s people than her father’s. On her right shoulder has a branding scar in the shape of a claw, a cruel gift from her grandfather on her mother’s side, who branded her because she was a disgrace to his family (All because she’s not full blooded Japanese).
Personality:
Ashley is usually skittish around new people, only because she’s not sure how they would react if she lost control over her power and healed them, it’s a drawback to how her Druidic magic shows it’s self, or at least that’s what her father’s friend has told her since she’s been living with him. Though when she gets to know people more, if she trusts them, she opens up more, even allowing touches as long as she’s not backed into a corner.
She will heal anyone who needs it, as long as she’s not forced to. While she won’t personally kill anyone, she won’t stop them from dying if they are past her ability, or if she is under duress. Ashley tries not to fight either, but if she’s backed into a corner she will rely on the ninja skills her grandfather beat into her in order to survive.
Powers/Abilities/Weaknesses:
She’s a natural healer, by touch; as well as a slight empath, again the range is only touch. Her power only works skin to skin contact which is why she tries to avoid touching people.
She can’t cure death, an attempt at doing so will put her in the hospital probably needing life support herself until her body can recover from the shock. She isn’t immortal, normal methods can easily kill her, though she’s careful not to get into situations where that can happen.
Drawbacks to her powers are too many people touching her at once will overload her making her feel sick. Also while she’s healing someone, until she’s done she cannot be moved or her concentration will be broken, usually with adverse reactions. And while her patient heals, she takes in their wounds, which is why she tends to heal allies first; though she will heal an enemy as long as they promise not to attack her.
On top of that she has an allergy to metal iron will burn her, actually causing her skin where it touched to blister within moments. She’s unable to heal herself, though if she focuses enough she can send any wounds she’s healed into another person (Her healing isn’t true healing as she puts herself at risk)
Growing up, even though her family didn't need to hunt her father taught her archery, as a way to help her focus. Archery became her way of escape while in her grandfather's care and she keeps her mother's Yumi close feeling it's the only way she can be close to her mother now. Since running away she's used the bow to poach if needed just so that she could survive, on her own until she gets to where she feels she needs to go.
Belongings:
On her she has her red and white haori (Short kimono), black shorts and a cropped black tank top. In the sleeves of the haori are four bamboo dirks, another two are in her hair holding it up in a tight bun. There’s a small coin purse in the left side with fifty British pounds, fifty American dollars and 200 yen. The right sleeve hides packets of herbal medicines as well as a few tranq darts (3 darts, each enough to knock out an average human for about an hour). She also happens to have a moleskin journal embossed with alchemic symbols which she guards with her life, refusing to let anyone else look at (The book if it can ever be figured out holds both a powerful magical virus and the cure to said illness, she won’t allow it off her person willingly even in sleep, trying to prevent people from dying from it). She also carries with her a long slender case which holds a Yumi which she took from her grandfather's home after seeing a photo of her mother with it.
History:
Even before Ashley was born she was the ‘curse’ of her Japanese family’s name. Her parents were Lord Marius Yavie (Scottish) and Michiko Takakawa, both of whom married out of love despite her father wanting her to marry another man to strengthen his syndicate.
Marius brought his wife to his family’s ancestral home in Scotland, where Ashley was born. Life for her was like a fairytale; Ashley was the ‘princess’ of a huge castle with loving parents.
When she was nine she was in a private school. That was when her world turned upside down. After her classes let out for the day, waiting for her in her dorm room happened to be her father’s best friend. He was the one that informed her that both her parents had been murdered. The murderer hadn’t escaped, but he was unable to tell the authorities who had hired him. He had been badly wounded, and wasn’t expected to live through the night. Ashley begged to see the man.
Her grandfather had been waiting for her to be dragged out of the school, only because he wasn’t sure which building she had been hiding in. Ashley was the last stain he had to deal with. She was left alone for a brief moment, that’s all that he thought it would take to take her out.
He had managed to cut her shoulder deeply with a takko-kago (Ninja claws). She fell back just as her father’s friend rounded the corner. In order to save his life Reiko agreed to go with her grandfather back to Japan. She’s been there for the last five years kept mostly in isolation even though he’s figured out her ability, which he forced her to use to keep his soldiers healthy. When the soldiers could though, they’d sneak her treats and try to make her captivity a little more bearable.
The first chance she got she escaped and has been on the run ever since, she’s smuggled her way from Japan and across working her way back to Scotland hoping to get to her father’s people hoping that it’ll be a safe haven.
